New Zealand native that forms large dense clumps. Attractive broad sword-like green leaves (up to 2m long) are stiffly arched with midribs that are often reddish.
Small, green and highly fragrant flowers appear in October to November followed by yellow-orange fruit that resembles sweet corn.
Found from sea level to about 900m in scrub and forest throughout New Zealand. Grows to 1mx1m and tends to be drought tolerant.
